Mom Congress

Mom Congress Action Alert

Last week, the House of Representatives passed the latest COVID relief package which provides the following critical supports for moms and families, including:

  • Simplifies the process for states to extend “pregnancy Medicaid” coverage from 60 days postpartum to 12 months postpartum

  • Direct relief checks for individuals and families who qualify

  • Funds to help states sustain child care providers and to help schools reopen safely

  • Extension and expansion of emergency paid and sick leave for workers

  • Enhancement of the Child Tax Credit, especially for young children

  • Increased funds for the Supplemental Nutrition and Food Assistance Program (SNAP), school meals, and other nutrition programs that are in high demand

  • Expanded unemployment benefits

  • Additional funds to hire 100,000 new public health workers (which could include certified peer specialists and community health workers)

  • Housing assistance for rent, mortgage, and utilities

  • Support for families through family resource and home visiting programs

The Senate is now debating what to include in its own version and will vote to move the package forward.

Your Senators need to hear from you that the provisions of the house bill matter to moms like you.
